KDE has been operating in Belgium since 2008. The company KDE Energy Belgium was incorporated in 2009 and registered in January 2010. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of KDE Energy Europe of Groningen, the Netherlands. The independent local organisation has its headquarters in Brussels. Support for the Flemish region is provided from the Netherlands, and for Wallonia from Lille, France. Besides its head office in Brussels, KDE Energy Belgium has branch offices in Mechelen and Namur. This is to enable projects to be developed at regional level in close liaison with the various stakeholders, from landowners to local residents and the authorities.
In searching for locations, KDE Energy Belgium uses self-employed developers, consultants and partners. An important partner in Belgium is Royal Haskoning, which has excellent contacts in the Belgian industry and can offer a wide range of consultancy services. They also do this in the wind energy sector. KDE Energy Belgium also collaborates with SPE on a number of projects in Wallonia.
With this approach, organised by the local Belgian team with support from the experienced KDE organisation, including Belgian partners, we can guarantee professional and efficient project development. On the strength of our know-how and experience, we can not only offer the best solution for the technical design and the legal and financial setup of the project, but also for the operation of the windfarm. There is ample experience in development in agricultural areas, as well as in industrial environments. KDE is a specialist in project development in ports and complicated industrial sites as well as refineries.
Wind energy forms an important component of renewable energy sources in Flanders and Wallonia. The main advantage is that the energy source is inexhaustible. Furthermore, the energy generation does not release any greenhouse gases or waste.
Data for Belgium:

Wallonia
